How we came about…
2012
8 November 2012
The inaugural International Accountants Day was launched to celebrate the first-ever accountants’ hangout by the accounting community in Singapore! The event saw accountants gather for a good cause, to raise awareness for the charities community.
Besides raising funds for the various causes by the charities, accountants enjoyed a series of fun activities such as kite flying, mass dance and music performances. Over 2,000 namecards were collected to form the longest chain of namecards and made a place in the Singapore Book of Records.
2013
7 November 2013
Stand up and be counted at Count on Me! In 2013, International Accountants Day saw the biggest book donation drive for underprivileged kids, tug-of-war and Frisbee competition, live music performances and booths set up by charities.
2014
6 November 2014
The “hottest” accountancy celebration ever! In 2014, International Accountants Day broke another record in the Singapore Book of Records with the most number of people consuming chillies. Who says accountants aren’t hot?
In the same year, we also managed to collate selfies of accountants to form a gigantic SG50 canvas collage to play a part in celebrating Singapore’s 50th birthday!
2015
5 November 2015
Picnic By The Bay was the theme for International Accountants Day 2015 where we brought the celebration to Gardens By The Bay. Over 3,000 accountants came together in the scenic garden to bring the beneficiaries for a Conservatory tour. Goodies bags were also issued to prepare participants for the biggest picnic session ever for the accountants.
2016
10 November 2016
The only International Accountants Day (so far) that was celebrated on the actual international date! Back at Gardens By The Bay, IAD 2016 refreshed the Singapore Book of Records with 3,000 namecards chained up at the celebration. Apart from the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest tour with beneficiaries, accountants took part in the IAD Amazing Race, as well as a variety of game stalls.
